    The V7 Compass™

A consistent standard of care. A path shaped around your dog.

Some dogs arrive ready to explore. Others need time to watch, listen, and become comfortable. Even a familiar guest may arrive with different needs from their last visit.

The V7 Compass™ guides how we respond to those differences. It is our everyday decision-making framework for choosing the right pace, environment, activity, and interaction for the dog in front of us.

At its center is one question:

"What does this dog need most right now?"

The answer might be a quiet place to rest, a reassuring routine, a walk with time to sniff, or a gentle invitation to connect. The Compass helps us make those choices thoughtfully throughout your dog's stay.

We begin by understanding your dog

You know your dog's habits, preferences, and history. That knowledge gives us a starting point: what feels familiar, what they enjoy, what unsettles them, and how you communicate at home.

Then we pay attention to how they experience being here.

Do they approach willingly or prefer some space? Can they settle after activity? Are they curious about their surroundings? Does a change leave them comfortable, hesitant, or needing more support?

We consider the whole situation. A single behavior does not tell a dog's entire story.

    Notice. Respond. Reassess.

    Notice

Observe your dog's comfort, energy, willingness to engage, and response to the environment.

    Respond

Choose an appropriate next step—perhaps more space, a simpler interaction, familiar activity, or an opportunity to explore.

    Reassess

Watch what happens next. Continue when your dog appears comfortable, adjust when they need support, and allow rest when they have had enough.

This is a process we return to throughout the day. Readiness can change, and our care changes with it.

What the Compass looks like in everyday care

These are examples, not fixed prescriptions. The same behavior can mean different things in different situations. Your dog's history, physical needs, and surrounding circumstances all matter.

What we noticeWhat we considerHow care may adapt
A new arrival hangs back from interaction.Would more time and space help them settle?Offer a quiet place and a calm presence, allowing them to approach at their pace.
A dog willingly approaches and explores. Are they comfortable with a small next step?Offer a gentle introduction or a little more exploration, watching their response.
A dog becomes increasingly excited during activity.Would a pause or quieter setting help?Reduce stimulation and give them an opportunity to settle.
A dog hesitates when something changes. Can we make the experience easier to understand?Allow distance, time, and familiar guidance before asking for more.
A dog seeks rest after an outing. Is quiet recovery the next priority?Make room for undisturbed downtime rather than adding another activity.

Individual care within a dependable routine

Consistency gives your dog familiar points throughout the day. The Compass guides how we support them within that routine.

One dog may enjoy a longer outing. Another may benefit from a shorter walk with plenty of time to investigate. One may seek companionship immediately; another may build that connection gradually.

We keep our guidance patient and predictable while adjusting the pace to the individual.

    Small moments help us see

The smallest moments—a glance, a settled sigh, a willingness to approach—tell us how your dog is doing. The V7 Compass™ keeps us attentive to those moments so care stays personal, patient, and responsive throughout every stay.
